Baby is Boss

Someone is teething yet again. He drools, chews on everything, cries at night and is generally fussy throughout the day. He's been throwing unwarranted fits- lots of iphone tossing, poking the dog in the eye, screaming for cookies, throwing groceries overboard, trying to run out the front door as fast as he can, standing up in highchairs, bowing his back when he's being strapped into his car seat- things that make my job much harder. But it's still the best thing ever when he lays his head on me and says "Wuv Ew" without me saying it first. Baby, we will get through this together.

In other news, I may or may not be starting another business. I have a partner, David, and he will run the art supply and printing shop and I will run the gallery. We will see what comes of this. We've been looking over catalogues and samples, making phone calls and making sales projections.

A couple of weekends ago, The Oh Johnny! Girls played at the Okie Twist Off. It was our first time to play in a full year and I think we pretty much nailed it. Wish we'd had a better PA but oh well. That happens a lot. A ton of our friends came out and we had a lot of fun. Pictured above is Huy.
This is Annah and Morgan, a sweet married couple from OKC. I refer to Morgan as Husband's new boyfriend. Annah is a badass jewelry designer and as soon as I know where to get her stuff, I'll let you know.
This is where we played. The band before us tore up the ceiling and made a huge mess. Wtf? Whatever, we've played in worse conditions. Remember when we played at the Okie Noodling Festival, Sandy? So much fun.

Oh. So this was last Thursday. We went to see a friend's band in OKC. At some point I accidentally called my dad and he says he heard "a lot of inappropriate conversation" going on but "it sounded like we were having a good time." Man, I have no clue which part of any conversation he heard from that night but i'm sure it's not good. Sandy was being a crazy person and most of the things my friends and I talk about ARE inappropriate so oh well. I think it's funny.
Baby's new converse are so cute. He's the coolest little guy ever.
About the 5th time we checked the mail that day. I kept telling him I didn't think it would come more than once but he didn't believe me.
I took baby out to breakfast at Panera last week. He loved his spinach and artichoke egg souffle and the attention he received from neighboring diners. He waved a lot.
Yesterday evening, Baby and I were wandering around Target, picked up some random stuff, and stood in line FOREVER just to realize I had left all of my cards in a different bag- at home. Yay! I apologized to the clerk for wasting his time and as Baby and I were leaving the store, a woman who had been in line behind us, ran up and handed Baby a twenty dollar bill. I assured her that it was no big deal and we'd just go home and come back but No. She insisted. Seriously? There really are some genuinely kind people out there. That was just nice. So thank you lady in Target who gave me twenty bucks.

I think I have pretty good karma since I always let people with one item check out before me, I've given a few bucks to people in line who were deciding what they had to put back, we donate a lot of clothes and baby stuff to charity, and the other day we were at Target and someone had left a case of Coka-Cola in a cart in the cart return and we took it to customer service in case the people came back for it. Do you believe in grocery store karma as much as i do?

Well. Also, when that happened, Baby had drool and Lucy fur all over his shirt and he wasn't wearing shoes. And I don't think his hair was combed. So maybe she felt bad for the poor child. Haha. I promise you, he is very well taken care of. All babies sometimes look like trashcan babies.

Our dog, Lucy. She's been sick lately. We took her to the vet and she has heartworms. She's been on pills and has had one treatment so far. A painful shot and a night in the hospital. She seems good today. We have to keep her in a small room and she is forbidden to run or jump or get excited whatsoever for the next few months. Her new name is Lucy I Cost a Small Fortune Brady. I couldn't bear the loss of another animal this year. Jackson was hard enough, still is.

Baby's playground was finished today! I'll have more pics later. There are a lot of cool accessories like steering wheels, a picnic table, a rock climbing wall, a telescope, and a tic tac toe thing. The rubber mulch will be laid down and it will be done. Our backyard is a wreck now but hopefully we can put it back together soon. I just want it to be DONE!!! We had to get dirt moved around to have enough room for the playset so there is a giant chunk of earth taken out of the massive hill back there and we are missing grass on half of our yard now. It is not pretty.

Baby should be waking from his nap so I'll go and make him a baby snack and fresh juice. Going on vacation soon so hopefully will have lots to talk about next time.
xo, jp
