like lightning in my heart.

This room is by no means done but i finally decided on something for the walls.  I'd like to start hunting for a cool headboard, something with tufted velvet perhaps.  I love velvet, gold, vintage, sparkle, masculine with regal, feminine pieces, flashes of tiger, cheetah, or leopard print, chandeliers, charcoal and cream, displayed jewelry, fake fur throws, big pillows, and NO OVERHEAD LIGHTING.  I have always hated overhead lighting-  pendant, chandelier, recessed and track lighting excluded.  Can't wait to lay on the bed and watch HBO on a neatly mounted flatscreen on Sunday nights while eating popcorn and enjoying a completely finished bedroom.  (it's a lot brighter in the bedroom than the cave-like picture shows.)

Would I ever do the chevron print again?  You would have to pay me quite a bit to do that tedious measuring, taping, painting and painting again.  My back hurts, my hands hurt, my head hurts.

Yesterday I had a cut and color.  Just had a teeny bit trimmed because for now, I'm going to continue to grow it.  The cut looks and feels fantastic.  I like the color-  but i just like it alright.  I was looking for something a little more dramatic-  I mean, if you know me, you know I'm not scared of serious change when it comes to fashion and beauty.  Going in, my hair was already lighter at the tips, just a natural summer fade.  (pic above is after leaving the salon)  The gradient effect is very slight but very even, which shows skilled talent in a stylist, but soon I will probably try and do it myself.  Sometimes I don't communicate what I want very well I guess although I did bring pictures.  My weird medium-reddish brown natural color can be difficult to work with.

Here are a couple of shots Husband took of me a week ago.

The Oh Johnny! Girls have been killing it lately and it feels good.  We had a great show last weekend.  A photographer came out to do photos for an article in next months Distinctly Oklahoma magazine and I'm excited to see them.  We've got a few things coming up, a show at the Blue Note on October 15th and we're playing on a moving vehicle at the Ghouls Gone Wild parade.  FUN.

I'm excited for the weekend!  We're going to a movie tomorrow night and going to my in-laws on Saturday to watch the big OU/TX game.  They just finished a huge renovation/add on to their home and I'm super pumped to watch the game on a HUGE flatscreen, eat good fun, and play with babies.  Must plan Jack's OU outfit now.

I can't remember if I told you about my solo show thing.  It was fun.  It was weird.  I was nervous for the first time in years.  I had my PA system set up in my dining room and practiced here and there.  Jack loves the microphone.  He would sing his Night Night song before bedtime and look so satisfied and proud of himself.  My little heart feels so big when I see that look on his face.

A, B, C, D, Night night time!

Did you know you can make the alphabet song into a song about anything you want to?
Jack does.

my my my.

We went to the zoo yesterday along with everyone else with kids under 5.
I learned to play Skinny Love by Bon Iver.
Yesterday, I made a blackberry & strawberry tart for husband to take to his friend's house.
He didn't take it.
Still allergic to strawberries so if you want the tart, let me know.
Today is major laundry day.
Today I am majorly sick.
(not contagious, just allergic to everything that ever existed.)
This morning I drove by a house I'm in love with AND IT'S FOR SALE!
Wanting to paint the bedroom this week.
Carpets are being cleaned on Thursday.
All so exciting.

Jack just wanted to see the giraffes.
He liked the rhino and especially loved the baby elephant.

Jack waves to the animals.
"Bye bye, elephant mommy."
"Bye bye, elephant dada."
"Bye bye, elephant baby."

I hope you're enjoying this amazing weather.  Bye bye, people.

babies and upholstery

We just had our 3 year anniversary yesterday and looking back on that time is very strange. Not in a bad way, just not conventional i guess. I've basically only known him as my husband and a father because we met and 2 months later were married and pregnant. I feel so fortunate to have such a great man in my life and such a great little boy but sometimes feel like we missed out on doing a lot of things couples do before any of that comes along. Not that it's important now, but it would have been fun and nice to have those memories together.

Jack was in Alabama all of last week and I missed him like crazy. The first few days would have been fun except I had a fight with my mom and my little brother and on top of that, I had a summer cold that really sucked. I was just a little sad but I wrote and recorded a new song and lounged around the house with allergy meds and cough drops. Thursday and Friday, Husband played golf and I REALLY started to miss my chicken. I get lonely when he's gone, he's my little buddy. Saturday, we stayed at the Waterford in OKC like we did last year. Hung out at the pool, had a couple of cocktails. There's always a wedding party staying there on the weekend of our anniversary as it is a very popular wedding weekend. The hotel bar by the end of the night was insane and funny. I'll post pics of this stuff later. For now, I have a question.

Is it time for another baby? We talk about it all the time and Husband was ready weeks ago. Some days I wake up and really want to be pregnant again. Is that weird? I think it's weird but I'm sure it's some biological trick. I would like to be pregnant in the winter like I was with Jack so I need to make this decision pretty soon. They say every pregnancy is different so maybe the next time I'll be all glow-y without morning sickness or food aversions and I won't retain water like a MF.

If I get pregnant, what will I do about playing music? I played until I was about 7 months last time but it was really hard. Then I didn't start playing again until a while after having Jack. So many decisions. When is the right time, guys? Do I want to be pregnant and chasing after a 2 year old? Do we have room in our house for another baby? The answer is no- we don't! We have an extra room but if it's another nursery, where do my guitars and computer go? Where do the guests stay? Would we every have guests again? Will Husband and I ever have a night out again? How much weight will I gain and how long will it take for me to work it off? Can we afford another baby? All of this sounds like a nightmare however, I want another baby to love like crazy. Jack would be a really good big brother. He's very caring and helpful and he always asks when we get to have a baby. (i wonder who taught him that!)

above & below from DecorPad

I wouldn't care if we had a boy or girl as long as we have a happy and healthy baby. I wonder if it would look like Jack? Will it be harder the second time or easier? Am I crazy? If I get pregnant again, can I talk Husband into not staring at facebook and golf websites on his phone while driving us around? Yes, people, he does this and I've started to take his phone away unless he gets a work call. It scares the shit out of me, especially when my chicken is in the car. Dear Husband, QUIT IT, it's irresponsible.

Originally, we had agreed to have another baby a year or so after Jack was born so they'd be close in age. Husband had promised we'd have a real wedding the summer after Jack was born and that didn't happen. So then, I made a deal with him- we'd talk about having a baby after he kept his promise. At that rate, Jack would be an only child and that's not what I want.
We've gotten new stainless appliances and now we just need to find an affordable and cool stainless stove. In my dreams it's an industrial gas stove but anything stainless would definitely be awesome. I'd also like to replace our ugly cabinets with white exposed shelving and rip out the totally 70's backsplash and matching countertops and use something simple. Our kitchen is small and I have pretty dishes.

Dude. I just remembered that we bought lottery tickets on Saturday- which is Husband's lucky day. (the day he survived a horrible car accident- probably facebooking and driving- 3 years ago and last year we went on that crazy car chase and chased down our own truck and the guy who broke into our house.) We figured, what the hell- maybe we'll get lucky. The drawing is tonight, I think. Wish us luck. Wish my kitchen luck.

I'm about to paint our bedroom a dark gray/blackish color. I finished a new painting to go above the bed and I'm on the lookout for neato matching bedside lamps. If it were totally up to me, I'd go more in the direction of the room below. Pink, gold, vintage and fabulous.
I am getting something really cool reupholstered and I'm thinking pink but possibly black. Like the color of pink in the first picture posted if I can find the material.
1. Baby or no baby?
2. nevermind number 2.
3. Gray or pink room?
4. Pink or black upholstery?
5. Luck?
6. One more luck?
thanks. ♥ jp

fun & games.

Late night online browsing. Things I like. Let's win the lottery. Let's not have an asthma attack. Let's spy on people online. Let's watch Friday Night Lights on Netflix. Let's have a party. Let's make this wind die down. Let's make a new workout playlist. Let's work out. Let's make an effort to be better and happier people. Let's book the Vegas trip. Let's look forward to the future. Let's continue planning my pretend wedding. Let's have another green tea. Let's be more thankful everyday for the things and opportunities we have and for the people in our lives. Let's raise $1,500 for a new OJ!G album. Let's teach the Baby how to spell his name. Let's find time to spend with each other. Let's break out the box of summer clothes from the garage. Let's plant flowers in the back yard. Let's quit with this let's crap. It's annoying, I know.

Zebra Cowhide Rug Remember the bedroom I wanted a couple of posts ago? In THIS post. Rug found! (io-metro.com) The zebra print is a little obnoxious on a cowhide rug but I like it. I also love the plain old black and white or brown and white cowhide rugs. (I bet my Husband and my Momma hate this.)

Pavilion Platform Bed (charlesprogers.com)

Annie Leibovitz At Work The only book of hers that I do not have. She talks about the way and reasoning behind how she shoots. Why don't I own this already? (amazon.com)

Chanel Rose Insolent (chanel.com)

Robert Rodriguez V-Neck Open Back Black Silk Blouse I would like it in the size 4, please. You must look at the link and check out the back of this shirt. IneeditsoBAD! (bluefly.com)

Stella Chair- Chipper Black I've sat in this chair many times at IO Metro in Edmond. I've thought about buying it many times. It would look great in my living room. It needs a pink pillow. (i0-metro.com)

CB2 Pulley Pendant Lamp I also want this pendant lamp for my dining room to replace the ugly 1970's thing. I could install it myself like I did with the kitchen light. A certain man of the house couldn't do it and I'm pretty darn handy at stuff like that. I like installing and taking things apart, painting walls and getting dirty- I get a nice piece of self satisfaction out of it. (cb2.com)Marc by Marc Jacobs Bianca Clutch This is just self-explanatory. From the photo above, you'd think this clutch were small but it's a trickster! It's big. And it's great. And it would look so good in my loving arms. (zappos.com)

Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Baby Aidan I love this bag because it's big and casual and a great neutral color. Think of all the places I could carry this bag, and how many diapers and toddler snacks and guitar strings and tuners I could fit in it. (zappos.com)

Kate Spade New York Gold Coast Bright Robin Ok, so it may not be practical to spend $275 dollars on a little hot pink bag but I swear I will carry it often. Pink is my favorite color, you know that. And you know that I'm not always practical. (zappos.com)

Kate Spade New York Lily Ash bag This is much more practical and just as beautiful. And I think it's on sale- can't argue with that. (zappos.com)

honey bees & cupcakes.

The Boy is getting bigger. He's been eating everything in sight and sleeping quite a bit. I feel a growth spurt coming soon. Talking a lot more is also on the baby's agenda. He's recently been saying something that kind of sounds like "damn" and "dammit." Those are not my favorite words so he must have picked it up at your house, people. Seriously, ask my mom- she knows my choice words, she'll tell you. (or she'll spell them out rather.) About that- I used to have the heart of an angel and the unfortunate potty mouth of a trucker and now I don't. All angel for the most part these days. There's a reason grown-ups tell you that cussing all the time makes you sound stupid- and it's because it makes you sound stupid. That's the lesson of the day, kids.
We had lunch at Khazana today and it was delicious. They had this badass onion fritter thing. I know I said "badass" but in my book that's not a cuss word. Baby ate 2 platefuls of rice and saag paneer.
Above: I let Jack dress himself for St. Patrick's Day and this is what he came up with. I like it. The Batman face on his head makes his pretty face really stand out.
Below: Jack loves Toy Story and ran around the house in this Woody doll towel and yelled "HAW HAW!" (his version of "yee haw.")

Above: This black lace jumper looked like something I could wear to an Oh Johnny! Girls show until I put it on and it looked weird on me. The back was see-thru lace which looked kind of sleezy. In conclusion, sheer black lace short- shorts jumpers aren't for everyone- def not for me.
Below: Tried on this Ralph Lauren button-up and then didn't buy it. Regretting that decision and maybe I'll go back.
Below: Lunch in OKC with Husband, his boyfriends, and my girlfriends.
Below: Shoes I didn't buy and I'm regretting it now. They were only $30! What was I thinking? Clearly, I wasn't.
Below: I did buy this new nail polish. Anna wore it the other day and I had to have it so I copy catted her. OPI in Chocolate Moose.

Happy baby wearing his new shoes.

Above: Husband celebrates St. Pat's day.
Below: I've been making cupcakes lately. These are red velvet with cream cheese icing and they were delicious.

Been cleaning and rearranging the past week. Spring cleaning I guess. Will someone please come over and paint my bedroom a different color? Or at least share a bottle of wine with me and help me do it?
I think I'm over the blue. It would be pink if I could somehow sneak it past the ol Husband. I think he would notice.
While you're painting my bedroom, can you please make it look like this? (below)

Or at least give me this bed and the bench at the foot. (below)
Sigh. Like I said= major cleaning lately. It involved opening Jack's closet. It was scary in there. It was scary in his dresser drawers and in his toy box. See below.

Above and below: Getting ready to play a show at the Opolis. The headpiece is a really cool moldable piece of jewelry called the Medusa. My lovely friend at Bohemian Gypsy makes them and they come in silver, bronze, gold, and silver/gold. Long or short. You can wear them on your head, as a belt, as a necklace, or a bracelet.

More of me.

I'm so exhausted. I haven't been posting much because I've been unbelievably busy and stressed out and tired and boring and whatever else no one wants to hear about. I'm going to sleep now! Going to see my grandma tomorrow morning after I take the kiddo to his school thingy.

Ah man! I forgot, I've come across a ton of awesome wedding stuff lately. Invitations, websites, dresses, decorations, ideas and whatnot for my imaginary dream wedding. I'll share in a post later this week.

LOVE YOU, WORLD. sometimes.
